Rock, gravel and perimeters
Weeds rarely start in the middle of the yard. They start at the edges: the seam where gravel meets turf, the strip along a block wall, the joint in a driveway. We treat those lines first, then work the open rock, so the yard stays clean instead of overrun.
It matters for more than looks. Overgrowth along a foundation gives scorpions, spiders and ants cover and a shaded path right up to your house. Keeping the perimeter clear takes that pathway away.

One stops weeds from starting. The other clears what is already there. Run on their own they both fall short, so we use them as a pair.
Applied before weeds sprout, pre-emergent creates a barrier in the soil that stops many weed seeds from germinating in the first place. Timing matters in the desert, so we treat at the right points in the season to get ahead of the next flush.
For weeds that are already up, post-emergent treatment targets the growth you can see. Together with pre-emergent, it keeps rock, gravel and perimeters looking clean instead of overrun.
Seasonal timing
Desert weeds do not run on one calendar. Cool season rain wakes up one set, monsoon moisture wakes up another, and a pre-emergent barrier only does its job if it is already in the soil when that water arrives. So we plan applications around the weather in front of us, not the weeds behind us.
Winter weeds wake up once temperatures drop and moisture arrives. Getting pre-emergent into the soil before that window is what keeps a rock yard from filling in.
Summer storms trigger a second flush. Same approach: treat ahead of the rain, then clear whatever still pushes up through the gravel.
Weeds ignore schedules. If something comes up between visits, tell us what you are seeing and we will work it into the plan.
New gravel, fresh landscaping or any digging breaks the barrier in that spot. Let us know so the next application accounts for it.
